20 Celebrity Parents Who Tragically Lost Their Children
Death is a natural part of life. However, no parent ever should have to bury their own child … it’s one of the cruelest tragedies that can happen to a person. And unfortunately, though fame can protect someone from a lot of things, it can’t protect you from this.
It might seem like life is charmed for celebs out there, but many of them have gone through excruciating heartbreak, more than anyone should have to go through. The following celebrities have tragically lost children. May those who passed rest in peace, and our hearts go out to stars like Prince, John Travolta, Keanu Reeves, Vince Neil and more who have had to endure so much pain.
1. Joe Biden
The vice president’s former wife, Neilia, was driving with their children in 1972 when they got in a car accident. His two sons, Beau and Hunter, survived, but he lost Neilia and his 1-year-old daughter, Naomi.
2. Mia Farrow
Mia Farrow has lost two children: her adopted daughter, Tam, from heart failure at the young age of 19, and then her daughter, Lark, at three from AIDS-related complications.
3. Sylvester Stallone
At age 36, Sylvester Stallone’s son, Sage Stallone, passed from a heart attack.
4. Marie Osmond
Michael Blosil, Marie Osmand’s son, committed suicide at age 18 after battling depression.
5. Pierce Brosnan
After his wife of 17 years, Cassandra Harris, passed from ovarian cancer, Pierce Brosnan raised her daughter, Charlotte Harris, as his own. Charlotte later passed of ovarian cancer as well at age 41.
6. Eric Clapton
When his son Connor Clapton tragically fell out of a hotel window at age 4, Eric Clapton wrote “Tears In Heaven” in his honor.
Boy Gregory, Prince’s son, passed a week after he was born due to Pfeiffer Syndrome. Prince tragically passed away in April of 2016 at the age of 57.
8. John Travolta
John Travolta and Kelly Preston lost their son, Jett, due to complications from a seizure back in 2009 on a trip to the Bahamas.
9. Willie Nelson
Willie Nelson’s son, Billy, committed suicide at age 33 after struggling with financial issues.

Six months before her own death, Anna Nicole Smith lost her son, Daniel, to a fatal combination of prescription medications.

Andre Young, Jr., Dr. Dre’s son, tragically passed after a drug overdose at age 20.

Keanu Reeves and his girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, had a daughter, Ava Archer Syme-Reeves, who was stillborn. Tragically, Syme passed in a car crash 18 months later.

Exodus Tyson tragically passed of accidental asphyxiation at the young age of 4.

Vince Neil’s daughter, Skylar, passed from cancer at age 4. Neil started a charity fund in her honor.

The musician’s two oldest sons, Roy and Anthony, passed away in a house fire in 1968, when Orbison was on tour.
16. Robert Plant
When Led Zepplin frontman Robert Plant was on tour, his 5-year-old-son, Karac, passed away from a severe stomach infection.

Loretta Lynn has lost not only one child, but two: her son, Jack Benny, who passed away when he was 34 while trying to ford the Duck River, and her daughter, Sue, who died from emphysema at age 64.

Charlie Chaplin had 11 children from his four marriages, and sadly he lost two of them. His very first child, Norman, passed away merely three days after he was born. Approximately 50 years later, his son Charlie Chaplin Jr. died from a blood clot in the lungs.
